The partnership between Audi and the basketball department of FC Bayern München is continually filled with lively activities not only on the playing field. Today, the players received 17 Audi A4 sedans painted in Phantom black, Managing Director Marko Pesic an Audi A7 Sportback, Coach Svetislav Pesic an Audi A4 allroad quattro and Deputy Managing Director Volker Stix an Audi A6 Avant.
Since the beginning of 2011, Audi has been supporting the club’s basketball department via the Region South – an extension of the successful partnership with the soccer players that has been in existence since 2002. The team that finished in the top four in the 2012/2013 season holds its home games at the Audi Dome. With nearly 130,000 spectators in total and more than 6,000 per meeting FC Bayern is one of the most popular teams in the ‘Beko Basketball Bundesliga,’ the German Federal Basketball League.
“In the past two and a half years, we’ve experienced numerous sporting and emotional highlights,” says Thomas Günther, General Sales Manager of Audi Region South. “We’re happy to see Audi and FC Bayern Basketball being featured together outside the Audi Dome again and again – the event today is a good example of the friendly partnership. We wish the team of Svetislav Pesic a lot of success on starting into the new season.
” Following the presentation of the current team for the next season and the official handover of the keys by Thomas Günther, the guests experienced the debut of the ‘Audi mobile court’ at the Audi Gebrauchtwagen :plus center in Munich. The Audi Q3 with a basketball rim and net mounted to the rear is now advertising the sport of basketball and the home games of FC Bayern München. At the inaugural event, the basketball players in an internal shoot-out played for an all-day trip in an Audi R8. The largest number of goals was scored by Chevon Troutman, who was delighted about his prize.
The competition will start in earnest for the basketball players of FC Bayern at the season opener of the Beko Basketball Bundesliga vs. the Telekom Baskets Bonn on October 3. At a pinnacle event of the preparation phase, the Bayern team will previously meet with the team of FC Barcelona at the Audi Dome on September 26.
