BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy Central Asia 2018. Equipping for success in Mongolia.

Munich. The countdown to the start of the
sixth BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy
continues and with June 2018 fast approaching the attention
has moved on to equipping the GS riders for their time in Mongolia.
Extreme adventure calls for high-performance equipment and aside from
their BMW R 1200 GS Rallye motorcycles the
competitors are going to need to be wearing and using the best
performance kit to ensure their comfort and safety.

Fortunately BMW Motorrad is well placed to help through their
own accessory product lines and through those of its partner
companies. So here’s what the competitors will be supplied with to
keep for their use in Mongolia, and beyond.

Rider Gear.

BMW Motorrad Rallye Suit.
Used in every
International GS Trophy and even seen in the Dakar Rally, the Rallye
suit, updated with new colours and design for 2018, is full of handy
features that make it the perfect globetrotter. The watertight insert
can be worn both under and over the jacket for optimum protection from
rain, wind and dirt. This well-ventilated suit is also made of
abrasion-resistant ProTechWOOL material and has several pockets for
storing personal items. EU-certified body armour in the back, shoulder
and elbows of the jacket as well as in the knees and hips of the pants
allow maximum protection in the event of a fall.

Neck Brace by Leatt.
Intended specifically for
adventure, street and commuting riders, the STX Road Neck Brace is
designed to fit over the riding gear. Making use of Alternative Load
Path Technology (ALPT®) it helps to transmit energy from the helmet to
the body, bypassing the neck – which is the key for reducing neck
forces during a crash. The twin scapula wings on the back can be
adjusted to fit most body shapes and the additional height adjusters
on the shoulders accommodate different riders’ heights. For safety
when riding it has integrated padding that makes movement for
over-the-shoulder views easier and more comfortable.

BMW Motorrad Rallye Gloves.
When the road heats
up, these lightweight summery enduro gloves help to keep cool. You’ll
always have the upper hand with this mix of materials: robust kangaroo
leather, goatskin leather and elasticated Spandex. And the
shock-resistant hard shell offers the ultimate protection for off-road touring.

BMW Motorrad Enduro GS goggles.
The goggles are
a perfect match for the GS Carbon helmet and offer excellent vision
for off-road use. The width adjustable strap and comfortable padding
make them a pleasure to wear.

BMW Motorrad Trinkpak Hydra.
This flexible
drinking system with drinking tube enables the rider to stay hydrated
while riding; made of transparent and mold resistant Polyurethane with
a generous volume of two litres (70 fl oz) it’ll keep the rider fit
and alert over the long days in Mongolia.

BMW Motorrad Functional Shirt Pants.
The
key to maintaining a comfortable body temperature when riding is in
wearing layers of high-performance under garments. Recreating the
refreshing cool breeze of the oncoming wind – without the actual wind
– this highly breathable functional underwear made of polypropylene is
ideal for the job. Seamless and reinforced especially for motorcycling
use, the underwear is made from an odour-inhibiting material blend
that offers maximum comfort on warm summer days.

BMW Motorrad Thermo Functional Socks.
Say
goodbye to cold feet on the road with these functional thermal socks –
with a high wool content for toasty toes. A reinforced shaft and
padding on the foot, shin and gear-shift area offer added comfort.

Camping Equipment.
With eight days on the trails
and as many nights spent under the stars in the GS Trophy bivouac the
GS riders will need optimal camping equipment to ensure restful nights
that’ll help recharge their energies.

Marmot Vapor 2P tent.
With more room and smarter
features than ever before the new Vapor tents employ an innovative
Zone Construction concept and strategic pole clip placements to
deliver maximum internal space at key zones. Two large doors, a lamp
shade pocket in the roof and a color-coded pole clip system provide
improved comfort and handling.

Thermarest TrailPro thermal mat.
The TrailPro is
Thermarest’s most comfortable, self-inflatable mat for outdoor trips.
By adding additional air buffers it is now even lighter without
harming its four season isolation characteristics.

Marmot Trestles Elite 30 sleeping bag.
Marmot´s
new ultralight Trestles Elite series is an absolute highlight in the
synthetic sleeping bag category – and the bags are also produced
entirely PFC-free! The Trestles Elite 30 tips the scales at a mere 920
grams (the XL version: 1090g) yet keeps warm with a comfort
temperature of 3°C. The anatomically shaped foot box and 3D Nautilus
hood ensure a comfortable sleep and good insulation, while the
combination of the wave-construction top and blanket construction base
also promotes comfort and warmth. Further technical highlights are the
additional zipper for effortless access and the anti-snag mechanism on
the zipper itself.

Marmot Cirrus Down Pillow.
The GS riders might
be out in the wilderness but they should be afforded at least one of
the comforts of home. The Cirrus Down Pillow is a down-filled
inflatable pillow -durable for outdoor use but soft against the skin-
that is ultralight and ergonomically designed to support the neck,
stuffed into a carrying bag.

Leisure clothing and kit.
Equipped for on the
bike and through the night, but what about those between times when
washing, eating breakfast or supper or for those moments stargazing
around the campfire? And for that matter, how are they going to
transport all this kit?

Marmot Long Hauler Duffle Bag.
Each competitor
has only the one bag for all his or her kit and nothing beats the
hauling capabilities of the ultra-durable Marmot Long Hauler Duffle
Bag. The 110-litre Long Hauler is built for the most demanding travel
challenges. Detachable, adjustable carrying handles double as shoulder
straps and a side handle allows easy loading and unloading.
Water-shedding fabric and design plus integrated lash points and haul
loops for roof-rack travel.

Marmot Mini Hauler Toilet Bag.
Sometimes less is
more and the tiny Mini Hauler is the perfect small toiletry bag to
toss an outdoor clean-up kit into. The same great shape, size and
features as always, but now with a lighter-weight fabric. The Mini
Hauler´s internal zippered nylon stash pocket, toothbrush holder and
mesh zippered pocket under the lid keep you with it even when far from home.

Marmot ROM Jacket.

Marmot’s big mountain heritage shows in every detail of
softshell jacket. This zonally constructed jacket uses air permeable
Marmot M2 softshell and GORE® WINDSTOPPER® fabrics – a combo that
creates an incredibly comfortable, breathable garment that’s also
windproof and highly water resistant.

Marmot Hoody.
After a day battling not only the
ups and downs of the road but also of the weather the thing to wear is
the soft and cozy Marmot Hoody: A mid-weight fleece pullover. The
cotton/polyester fabric blend is garment washed and the hood is
jersey-lined for extra softness against the skin. Hands are kept warm
in the kangaroo pocket and the draw cord can be pulled to adjust the
fit of the hood. Simple front graphics feature a screen-printed logo
with environmentally conscious inks.

Marmot Summit Hat.
A classic style in 100% wool.
Features the Marmot logo and a micro fleece sweatband for comfort and
no itchy forehead.

Marmot Retro Trucker Cap.
Some days are too warm
for a woolen hat. Made with a young and funky embroidered print logo,
this structured trucker hat offers cool comfort.

BMW Motorrad Sandal.
Is there a better kind of
footwear for that trip from tent-to-shower-to-tent again? These
classic sandals with a rubber sole and striking BMW Motorrad print on
the upside are the last word in all-terrain footwear.

BMW Motorrad Easy Tube.
Motorcyclists the world
over have come to love the virtues and the simplicity of the neck
tube, so BMW has made its own. The Easy Tube can be worn as a scarf,
bandana, hairband and more while motorcycling.

Coleman Head Lamp.
When there’s nothing but the
stars lighting up the night you need a head lamp. Coleman’s adjustable
head lamp with movable light head and three different light
intensities (high, low and also red light) make for a better night view.

Marmot Toolbox back pack.
The Tool Box is a
smart back pack with sophisticated features made for long days in the
city or the office. The pack comes with a large main compartment, a
padded laptop pocket, an internal tablet pocket, a fleece lined pocket
for sunglasses, phone or GPS, an external stash pocket for on-the-go
essentials, an internal organizer with key clip and two external water
bottle pockets. The shoulder straps are padded and offer a great wear
comfort. All within a useful volume of 26 litres.
