BMW Motorrad Motorsport News: Success for the BMW S 1000 RR in numerous championships.

British Superbike Championship: Another Superstock win for
Taylor Mackenzie.

Knockhill (GBR) hosted round five of this season’s British Superbike
Championship (BSB) at the weekend. In the first Superbike race (BSB
SBK), BMW S 1000 RR rider Christian Iddon (GBR / Tyco BMW Motorrad)
finished fourth, missing out on the podium by just 0.369 seconds.
Peter Hickman (GBR / Smiths Racing) came home eleventh; his team-mate
James Ellison (GBR) was twelfth. In race two, Hickman was the best of
the BMW riders in seventh place. Ellison was tenth; Iddon crashed out.

 

In the Superstock class (BSB STK), BMW rider Taylor Mackenzie (GBR /
Bathams Racing) claimed his second victory of the season. He won the
second of the two Superstock races on his RR, having previously
finished runner-up to earn a spot on the podium in race one. He was
joined on the podium in race two by Andrew Reid (GBR / Tyco BMW), who
finished third. Reid had previously crossed the finish line sixth in
race one. Alex Olsen (GBR / Team IMR) finished eighth and seventh.

 

Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship: Two podiums
at the Pannonia-Ring.

The Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship (AA) was at the
Pannonia-Ring in Hungary for the third round of the season. The
Superbike races yielded two podium finishes for the BMW S 1000 RR.
Karel Hanika (CZE / Fany Gastro BMW Motorrad) came home third in the
opening race. He was followed over the finish line in fourth place by
Nico Thöni (AUT / Racing4fun). Ondřej Ježek (CZE / Fany Gastro BMW
Motorrad) was fifth. Bartlomiej Moranski (POL / Moranski Racing) also
claimed a top-ten finish in eighth place. In race two, it was Thöni
who landed his RR on the podium in third place. Ježek finished fifth,
ahead of Ireneusz Sikora (POL / BMW Sikora Motorsport) in sixth.
Hanika failed to finish this race.

 

FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup: A brace of podiums for
Michal Prášek.

The Pannonia-Ring (HUN) also played host to round three of the new
FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup (EU STK), and there was a double
podium for BMW racer Michal Prášek (CZE / Rohac-Fejta Moto Racing). He
finished third in both races on his BMW S 1000 RR. He was followed
over the finish line in race one by Michal Šembera (CZE / TME Racing)
in fourth place and Arnaud Friedrich (GER / Team LRP Poland) in fifth.
In race two, Friedrich came home in fourth place with Šembera in sixth.

 

Spanish Superbike Championship: First podium of the season for
Carmelo Morales.

The Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) held its third event of the
2019 season at Valencia (ESP) at the weekend. BMW racer Carmelo
Morales (ESP / BMW easyRace Team) claimed his first podium of the
year, finishing runner-up on his BMW S 1000 RR.

 

Italian Superbike Championship: Third round of the season at Imola.

The Italian Superbike Championship (CIV) returned to action at the
weekend after a break of roughly two months. The third event of the
year was held at Imola (ITA). In the first of the two races, Matteo
Baiocco (ITA / DMR Racing) was the best-placed BMW rider in fourth.
Team-mate Luca Vitali (ITA) followed him home in fifth place. Vitali
then finished fourth in race two, ahead of Baiocco in fifth.
Christiano Gamarino (ITA / Tutapista Corse) was seventh in race two.

 

Italian National Trophy 1000: BMW racers in action at Imola.

The Italian National Trophy 1000 (IT 1000) was also at Imola (ITA)
for its third race of the season. The best-placed BMW rider was Fabio
Massei (ITA) in seventh. He was followed over the finish line by
Francesco Cocco (ITA) and Federico Napoli (ITA / SB Corse) in eighth
and ninth.

 

Asia Road Racing Championship: Podium for the RR at Suzuka.

Suzuka in Japan hosted round four of the 2019 Asia Road Race
Championship (ARRC). Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (MAS) claimed another
podium on his BMW S 1000 RR, run by the Onexox TKKR SAG team. He came
home third in the first of the two races, before finishing seventh in
race two.
