HYUNDAI BECOMES VEHICLE SPONSOR OF PGA TOUR’S HUMANA CHALLENGE AND FARMERS INSURANCE OPEN

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 14, 2014 – Following the recent success of the 2014 Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Hyundai is expanding its golf presence by becoming the official vehicle of the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation and vehicle partner for the Farmers Insurance Open. With these additional golf sponsorships, PGA TOUR players will drive Hyundai vehicles in three out of the first four PGA TOUR events in the 2014 calendar year.

“We think golf is an excellent fit for the Hyundai brand and are excited to further our relationship with two of the best tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s West Coast Swing,” said Steve Shannon, vice president, Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “These tournaments come shortly after the Hyundai Tournament of Champions and allow us to continue the momentum we established in Maui. They also provide even more exposure for our vehicles among PGA TOUR players and golf fans everywhere.”

Hyundai’s flagship Equus, Genesis sedan, Azera, Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport CUVs will be offered to all 156 players in each event, along with tournament staff and executives. At each tournament there will also be numerous displays and hole-in-one opportunities. As an added benefit for the PGA TOUR players, those playing in both tournaments will be able to keep their vehicle for two weeks and use it to drive from the Humana Challenge in La Quinta, Calif. to the Farmers Insurance Open in La Jolla, Calif. since the events are held on consecutive weeks.

At the Humana Challenge, Hyundai owners will be upgraded from General Parking to Preferred Parking when they arrive at the tournament in their Hyundai vehicle. There will also be three chances for players to win a Hyundai by making a hole-in-one. For tournament play (Thursday through Sunday), any professional or amateur who makes a hole-in-one on the 15th hole at the Palmer Private course will win the all-new 2015 Genesis, which was just recently introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and is the second generation of Hyundai’s premium sedan. Two additional hole-in-one opportunities will be available for the Monday Pro-Am on the Nicklaus Private course and the Wednesday Pro-Am at the Palmer Private course for the chance to win a Santa Fe Sport. The Humana Challenge is held from Jan. 13-19 in La Quinta, Calif. and played on Palmer Private at PGA WEST (host course), Nicklaus Private at PGA WEST and La Quinta Country Club. Hyundai’s Humana Challenge official vehicle sponsorship runs through the 2015 event.

During the Farmers Insurance Open, any professional who aces the 16th hole on Torrey Pines South during the competition rounds will win a 2015 Genesis. The Farmers Insurance Open takes place from Jan. 23-26 in La Jolla, Calif. and is played at the world-famous Torrey Pines South.
