HYUNDAI GENESIS RECEIVES “LUXURY CAR OF THE YEAR” AWARD FROM POPULAR MECHANICS

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 20, 2014 – Hyundai’s all-new 2015 Genesis earned the title of “Luxury Car of the Year” in Popular Mechanics’ annual Car of the Year Awards. The award will be presented at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show and details on the win will be available in the December/January issue of Popular Mechanics now available on newsstands.

“The all-new Genesis is redefining the luxury market by offering premium features and advanced technology at an unbeatable value,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president of corporate and product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Receiving the honor of ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ from a prestigious publication like Popular Mechanics further demonstrates why the 2015 Genesis is truly in a league of its own and goes toe-to-toe with the best cars in the world.”

“The Hyundai Genesis ought to have the Germans and everyone else worried. This time around, Hyundai knows that intangibles make all the difference in the realm of luxury sedans, where all the cars are good,” said editors at Popular Mechanics. “The Genesis, right now, is in a sweet spot.”

For this year’s Car Awards, editors at Popular Mechanics looked for new cars that raise the game, standout and are both excellent to drive and important this year. After test driving several makes and models, editors deliberate until they determine their top picks.

The all-new 2015 Genesis has been in Hyundai dealerships since mid-year and represents a bold step forward for Hyundai. Building upon the success of the first generation model, the all-new Genesis is incredibly well-equipped in every configuration. Selected as an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, the Genesis offers a generous suite of standard safety and convenience features while offering H-TRAC, Hyundai’s first all-wheel drive system in a sedan. The sedan also boasts Hyundai’s bold Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design, premium luxury amenities and comes equipped with Hyundai’s second-generation Blue Link® telematics and infotainment system.
