“Our impressive SUV run continues as we’ve set monthly sales records in eight months this year, a result of our versatile lineup of Tucson, Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport,” said John Angevine, director, National Sales, Hyundai Motor America. “Year to date, Hyundai SUV sales are up 11 percent, significantly outpacing the industry. Coming off a successful Kona introduction this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show and our commitment to debut eight new or re-engineered SUVs by the year 2020, we are poised to take full advantage of consumer preferences. Not to be lost in the SUV-focused market, Elantra sold more than 19,000 units, the best ever November result for that model.”

During the month, Hyundai made several significant product and technology introductions. This week in Los Angeles, the new Kona made its North American debut. Kona is Hyundai’s first B-segment crossover for the U.S. market, appealing to consumers with active lifestyles of all kinds. At the LA Auto Show’s technology showcase day, Hyundai announced a partnership with Smartcar to drive innovations in connected-car technology by connecting businesses to Hyundai vehicles with Blue Link. This connection will allow mobile car washing, grocery delivery, and on-demand fuel delivery companies to securely access Hyundai vehicle functions, including the vehicle’s location, remote locking and unlocking and data such as mileage. Earlier in the month, Hyundai made some of its future product strategy known with plans to deliver eight new or re-engineered SUVs by the year 2020. When it comes to safety, the 2017 Ioniq HEV, 2018 Elantra GT and 2018 Santa Fe Sport were all recently named Top Safety Pick+s by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, adding even more Hyundai models that receive one of the highest safety distinctions in the industry.
