Ford’s ever-popular Escape SUV has always been about giving drivers exactly what they want: more choices, more innovation, and an undeniably fun driving experience.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the latest Escape follows this trend with impressive gusto. In fact, saying that the 2017 Escape is all about making your drive safer and easier could be the understatement of the year.

To achieve this, we asked ourselves at Ford just how to make the driver feel unstoppable—how can we use Ford innovation, technology, and design to create something new and exciting? The first step was all about the connectivity between your car and your phone.

Not Your Everyday Technology

Enter Ford’s SYNC Connect—a next-gen smartphone app (available for the first time with the 2017 Escape) that allows owners to communicate with their vehicles remotely. From unlocking doors to starting the engine, to checking tire pressure, battery and fuel levels (and even finding your car if you’ve forgotten where it’s parked), SYNC Connect is ready when you are. And once you’re behind the wheel, the optional SYNC 3 is also at your disposal—featuring in-car voice recognition, an intuitive smartphone-like touchscreen, and a user-friendly interface,

It’s all about giving you power and control you deserve.

Not Your Everyday SUV Features

The better Escape experience doesn’t end there, especially when we’re talking about upping the control ante with already available driver-assist technologies that SUV owners want. Ford aims to make the Escape daily commute all the more safe with features including available Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with brake support, available Enhanced Active Park Assist, as well as available Lane-keeping System (created to warn drivers when their vehicle drifts out of a lane) and available Driver Alert (created to detect driver fatigue and provide you with a warning) Systems.

Not Your Everyday Control Performance

Those innovative features are in addition to the many already available in Ford vehicles, including a Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, hill-start assist, auto high-beam control, and a hands-free, foot-activated liftgate—perfect for when your hands are full of groceries.

Under the hood, Ford technology gives the 2017 Escape a green advantage as well, thanks to two new available EcoBoost engines with Auto Start-Stop—a technology that doesn’t interfere with your driving, that senses when the vehicle is sitting idle and shuts off the engine to conserve fuel, and then instantly starts up again once you lift your foot off the brake. Available in1.5-liter and 2.0-liter twin-scrolls, we’ve designed the EcoBoost with fuel conservation in mind—the results of our Auto Start-Stop reinforce that notion too: in stop-and-go traffic we saw a 4-6 percent improvement in fuel economy.

The 2017 Escape’s available 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine also delivers an impressive 245 horsepower along with 275 lb.-ft of torque, greater efficiency, and improved noise, vibration and harshness performance.
