Mazda Canada reports sales for April 2018

RICHMOND HILL, ON, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported April sales of 7,278 vehicles, representing an increase of 7.4 percent versus April 2017. Year-to-date (YTD) sales are 23,353, which is an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the same period in 2017.

KEY APRIL SALES NOTES:

  • Another month with the CX-5 maintaining the lead as the best-selling model in the Mazda lineup, ahead of the perennially best-selling Mazda3 compact car. CX-5 had its best April sales ever with 2,605 vehicles sold, which is an increase of 4.3 percent year-over-year (YOY).
  • Mazda3 finished the month up 2.2 percent, against the compact car segment which is down 17.5 percent.
  • The new 2018 Mazda6, now available with the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T gasoline turbo engine, went on sale in April and contributed towards the best April sales for Mazda6 since 2013, up 42.4 percent YOY.
  • MX-5 kicked off spring with the best April sales month in a decade, and is up 20.6 percent compared to April 2017. 
  • April was the ninth consecutive record sales month for CX-3, with 1,206 vehicles. This represents an increase of 27.1 percent versus April of last year, and 39.4 percent YTD.
  • Sales of Mazda’s CX-line remain strong, with CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9 collectively reaching 4,156 vehicles sold in the month of April. This number represents an increase of 8.5 percent YOY, and 20.3 percent YTD. Among Mazda CX-line buyers, Mazda’s i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive option continues to be a favorite, with 84.6 percent of customers choosing the AWD option in April.
