Mazda Canada reports sales for August 2016

RICHMOND HILL, ON, Sept. 1, 2016 /CNW/ – Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported August sales of 6,546 vehicles, representing a decrease of 3.9 percent versus last year. Year-to-date (YTD) sales through August are down 4.1 percent versus last year, with 46,746 vehicles sold.

Key August 2016 sales notes:

  • The all-new 2016 CX-9 recorded its best August sales ever with 208, increasing 21.6 percent year-over-year (YOY).
  • For the first month in Mazda history, the best-selling model was a crossover, with the CX-5 outselling the Mazda3.
  • Mazda CX-5 had its best sales month ever with 2,607 vehicles sold, which is an increase of 21.3 percent versus August 2015.
  • Mazda’s subcompact CX-3 sold 887 vehicles in August, and is the third highest seller in the Mazda lineup, behind the CX-5 and Mazda3.  
  • With the new CX-9 in the ranks, Mazda’s line of CX crossover vehicles continues a strong growth trend, with YTD sales to the upside by 28.7 percent.   
  • SKYACTIV Technology proves to be the key between performance and fuel efficiency as customers demand a no compromise solution. 97.9 percent of Mazda vehicles sold in August were equipped with SKYACTIV Technology.
