NISSAN ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN SALES FOR JUNE 2011

– Strong performance across model range drives 8% sales increase –

Today Nissan announced European sales of 57,457 units for June 2011, an increase of 8% compared to last year.

For the calendar year-to-date Nissan’s sales in Europe hit 351,668 units boosted by the ever popular crossover family of Qashqai, Juke and Murano.

Most models posted year-on-year sales increases contributing to a 3.4% European market share in June (vs 3.1% in 2010). Calendar year-to-date, Nissan now has a 3.6% share of the overall market.

The award-winning Barcelona-built NV200 van is continuing to make a valuable contribution, with over 1,570 units sold in June – an increase of 29% year-on-year. While the all-new Micra supermini recorded an 11% improvement on June 2010.

Russia – Nissan’s largest European market – is continuing to play a key role. June sales reached 10,367 units achieving a 4.4% share in a market where Nissan remains the top-selling Japanese brand.

Bernard Loire, Vice President Sales Operations Europe, said: “Nissan continues to have a very successful 2011 in Europe, with all of our major markets performing well.

“One of the key factors driving this performance, which is likely to position Nissan as June’s highest-selling Asian car brand in Europe, is the breadth and diversity of our product offering today.

“As well as strong crossover sales from Juke and Qashqai, we also saw important contributions from our commercial vehicles – in particular the innovative NV200 van and Primastar. X-TRAIL and Navara led our SUV sales while in the small car segment Micra and Note mini-MPV also had a good month.”

And to give customers even more choice, in September Nissan will launch a new version of Micra. The new Micra DIG-S features a 3-cylinder, supercharged 1.2 petrol engine that delivers just 95 g/km CO2, making it one of the cleanest petrol engines in the world today without any compromise in performance.
