Nissan: Big NISMO weekend ahead in Pirelli World Challenge, Super GT and Australian supercars

NISMO and Nissan Athletes are set for one of the biggest race weekends of the season with the Super GT Championship headed to Thailand, the annual Bathurst 1000 Supercars classic taking place at Mount Panorama in Australia, and the final round of the Pirelli World Challenge held at Laguna Seca in the U.S.

Pirelli World Challenge
In the U.S., the Pirelli World Challenge season will conclude at Laguna Seca with Bryan Heitkotter and James Davison.

The Always Evolving/AIM Autosport squad enter this weekend after a strong weekend at Sonoma Raceway, and Heitkotter will be looking to add to his double victories scored two rounds ago in Salt Lake City.

With two races remaining, the former GT Academy winner is in fifth place in the championship points.

Super GT
Nissan will be looking to get back into the winner’s circle in Super GT in Japan after suffering its first defeat of 2016 at the last round at Suzuka.

Previously, Nissan had taken victory in the opening four rounds of the championship in the GT 500 class.

Nissan took the win here last year with Satoshi Motoyama and Masataka Yanagida victorious in the No.46 GT-R. Motoyama will welcome back his 2016 teammate Katsumasa Chiyo, who will return to Super GT action after recovering from his back injury.

Australian Supercars
In Australia, NISMO will field five Nissan Altimas at the Bathurst 1000 for the first time with Swiss racer Simona De Silvestro joining Australian Renee Gracie.

The Nissan lineup at Bathurst will also include Rick Kelly/Russell Ingall, Todd Kelly/Matt Campbell, Michael Caruso/Dean Fiore and Dale Wood/David Russell.
