Nissan: Charging finish for Nissan in World Challenge Laguna finale

MONTEREY, Calif. – The Always Evolving / AIM Autosport squad has finished the Pirelli World Challenge season on a high note with Bryan Heitkotter grabbing a podium in third place at Laguna Seca.

Heitkotter originally crossed the line in fourth place, but original race winner Johnny O’Connell was penalized for avoidable contact and stripped of his win.

The former GT Academy winner and this year’s Salt Lake City double-race victor had charged from ninth on the grid to finish the season with a podium.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 of James Davison made similar progress in the race. After qualifying 14th, the Australian scored a seventh place finish.

“We had a really good race today,” said Heitkotter. “Last year we really struggled for pace but we made the best of it. This year we had much stronger pace and again made improvements in the race. I’m very happy with this weekend. For me it caps off a really good year. It has been a great season as my first year as a pro GT driver. I really enjoyed running the GT-R with Always Evolving and AIM Autosport, and I really have to thank Nissan and NISMO. I finished fifth in the championship despite a couple of issues early in the championship. The latter two thirds of my season was really good. The consistency of my performance and the team was really strong. We’ve got great momentum and I’m really looking forward to the future.”
