LAGUNA SECA, Calif. – Last week, Nissan celebrated its incredible racing history as the featured marque for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. This week, Nissan power returns to Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca aiming to write new pages in the history books.
The Nissan-powered ESM team head to Monterey for the penultimate round of the 2018 Weathertech IMSA Sportscar Championship with Scott Sharp/Ryan Dalziel and Pipo Derani/Johannes van Overbeek at the wheel.
Derani and van Overbeek bounced back at the last round at Road America after an opening day, opening lap fire. The No. 22 Nissan-powered Onroak topped the warm-up times and ran as high as second late in the race before a final stop for a splash of fuel.
Cars hit the track on Friday for the first practice session at 10:55 a.m. Pacific time. Qualifying is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. on Saturday with the two-hour, 40-minute race set for 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
The final IMSA 2018 round is scheduled for Road Atlanta with the annual 10-hour Petit Le Mans on October 10-13.
ESM will add two-time Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard and Italian Antonio Giovinazzi to its lineup for Petit Le Mans with Olivier Pla and Sebring 12-hour winner Nico Lapierre committed to the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Fuji on the same day.
