MISSISSAUGA, ON – Today, truck enthusiasts finally found what they have been looking for when the next-generation Nissan TITAN made its national debut at the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) in Toronto. Alongside the Nissan TITAN was the Nissan BladeGlider Concept, a bold vision for the future of the brand in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
The first of the new TITAN models, the 2016 TITAN XD Crew Cab, is projected to go on sale at Nissan dealers across Canada in late 2015. The TITAN XD creates a new class of pickup with the effortless towing and hauling of the larger, more expensive heavy-duty trucks – including an available maximum towing capacity of more than 12,000 pounds* and maximum payload of 2,000 pounds* (when properly equipped) – yet has the fuel-efficiency* and affordability of half-ton pickups. It is powered by the new Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel rated at 310 horsepower and hefty 555 lb-ft of torque.
“We see untapped potential in the Canadian truck market as buyers seek the towing and hauling power of a heavy-duty with the drivability and comfort of a light-duty,” said Christian Meunier, president of Nissan Canada Inc. “The new TITAN XD is a work-place warrior, ready to haul, pull, tow and tackle whatever a job site throws at it – yet with the style and comfort for everyday use.”
The second-generation TITAN will also be offered in additional cab, bed, powertrain and model configurations, and increasing TITAN’s market segment coverage. Along with the TITAN Crew Cab shown in Toronto, the new TITAN will be available in King Cab and standard cab versions and with a 4×4 drivetrain. Future engine options will include a new gasoline V8 and an advanced gasoline V6. More details on the full TITAN lineup will be announced at a later date.

Nissan BladeGlider Concept
On the other side of the automotive spectrum, Nissan presented a head-turning concept vehicle. While the TITAN XD offers a one-of-a-kind engine, Nissan’s additional CIAS highlight has none – the electric BladeGlider Concept. Nissan’s latest sports concept will challenge conventional thinking on sports car performance handling, braking and weight distribution. The Nissan BladeGlider features a radical front narrow track layout, where the front is significantly narrower than the rear, creating a swept-wing profile when seen from directly above.
Disrupting and challenging the status quo, the NISSAN BladeGlider shares sustainable engineering values with both the Nissan LEAF and the Nissan ZEOD RC, the futuristic-looking competition machine which made its debut in last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

Nissan receives two 2015 ALG Residual Value Awards
In addition to the national unveilings for near-future and concept vehicles, two of Nissan’s existing products shared the spotlight today as winners of the 2015 ALG Residual Value Awards. Nissan’s Versa Note was awarded the 2015 ALG Residual Value Award in the Subcompact Car segment and, the made-for-Canada Nissan Micra received the inaugural 2015 ALG Residual Value Award in the City Car segment.
“We are proud to accept these two ALG awards. This recognition emphasizes our commitment to offer Canadians an unmatched ownership experience through high-quality, long-term durability vehicles offering the best value in their respective segments,” concluded Meunier.
Since the ALG Residual Awards’ inception in Canada seven years ago, Nissan Canada Inc. (including the Infiniti family of vehicles), has received a total of 23 awards.
