Nissan: Nissan-powered prototypes ready for Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif. – The Nissan-powered ESM race team has its sights set on repeating its recent IMSA victory when the championship returns to the famous Laguna Seca circuit in California next weekend.

At the last prototype round of the championship, at Road America in Wisconsin, Pipo Derani and Johannes van Overbeek combined to take Nissan’s first victory of the modern IMSA era. The duo, along with Scott Sharp and newly re-signed Ryan Dalziel, are eager to race the distinctive Nissan-powered Onroak chassis this weekend.

For Derani, the trip to the famous California circuit will be a first.

“I’m super excited to finally drive at Laguna Seca,” said Derani. “It’s such a historic and cool track that has produced amazing endurance races in the past. Coming from a victory at Road America, it’s obvious that our goal is to replicate that result but it is not going to be an easy task”

Added Derani: “We’ve been working hard on the points we had to improve from last race, and hope we can be a step higher here in California.”

Ryan Dalziel became the latest ESM driver to confirm his plans for 2018 with the Scotsman continuing with the team next year.

“This has been such a great group to work with,” said Dalziel.

“We’re a strong team, and I’m looking forward to good things with a good package next year. I’m looking forward to finishing this season on a high, then continuing the development on our package for next year.”
