SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE AWARD

– Prestigious EPA award honors continued commitment to energy management –

Nissan North America has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2012 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence Award. The award recognizes continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency. The EPA will recognize Nissan’s accomplishments at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 15. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the ENERGY STAR awards.

An ENERGY STAR partner since 2006, Nissan is honored for its continued commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving energy management. The 2012 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award recognizes Nissan’s continued commitment to smart energy management, the company’s ability to measure and track progress, and its efforts to communicate the importance of energy efficiency to a wide audience.

“Nissan is committed to partnering with ENERGY STAR in our efforts to increase energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing with the highest quality vehicles sold in North America,” said Bill Krueger, Vice Chairman, Nissan Americas. “These efforts align with our global strategies of zero-emission leadership and corporate social responsibility to employees, stakeholders and customers.”

The 2012 Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited outstanding leadership year after year. The winners have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, employing innovative approaches, and showing others what can be achieved through energy efficiency. The awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program including energy-efficient products, services, new homes and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Nissan is among nearly 20,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ENERGY STAR program, EPA is proud to recognize Nissan North America with the 2012 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. “Nissan and all our ENERGY STAR award winners are helping Americans find cost-effective ways to save energy in everything we do, which is good for our climate, our health, and our future.”
