Nissan Production, Sales, Export Results for August 2011

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for August 2011.

1. Production
Nissan’s global production in August increased 23.9% year-on-year to 385,112 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Production in Japan decreased 2.5% year-on-year to 89,262 units, despite increased demand for Rogue, Juke and Murano, mainly due to a reaction to the increased production of Elgrand as part of its full remodeling in August 2010, and the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 34.9% year-on-year to 295,850 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

In the U.S., production increased 13.7% year-on-year to 56,055 units, mainly due to increased demand for Altima.

In Mexico, production increased 52.0% year-on-year to 60,723 units, due to increased demand for the new March and the new Versa.

In the U.K., production increased 32.4% year-on-year to 36,737 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke.

In Spain, production increased 92.6% year-on-year to 6,039 units, mainly due to increased demand for Primastar.

In China, production increased 42.2% year-on-year to 94,940 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Tiida and Sunny, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Production in other regions increased 27.3% year-on-year to 41,356 units, mainly due to increased demand for March in India.

2. Sales
Global sales increased 14.2% year-on-year to 361,413 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 44,530 units in Japan, down 19.2% year-on-year, mainly due to effects of the earthquake on March 11 and the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in August decreased 24.7% year-on-year to 33,769 units, despite increased demand for the new Lafesta Highway Star.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles increased 5.2% year-on-year to 10,761 units, due to increased demand for Roox.

Sales outside of Japan increased 21.2% year-on-year to 316,883 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in the U.S. increased 19.2% year-on-year to 91,541 units, due to strong sales of Versa, Altima and Rogue, and additional sales of Juke.

In Europe, sales increased 25.1% year-on-year to 40,569 units, due to favorable sales in Russia and additional sales of Juke.

In China, sales saw an increase of 26.1% year-on-year to 94,706 units, due to increased demand for the new Tiida, Sunny and Teana, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in other regions increased 13.7% year-on-year to 62,515 units, mainly due to increased demand in Indonesia and Brazil.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan’s exports in August increased 34.1% year-on-year to 57,848 units.

Exports to North America increased 88.0% year-on-year to 30,448 units, mainly due to increased demand for Rogue and Juke.

Exports to Europe increased 43.1% year-on-year to 9,525 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke.
