Nissan: Strong pace by GT-R squad in World Challenge in Canada

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada The Always Evolving / AIM Autosport Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 squad showed strong pace in the latest round of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Toronto.

James Davison and Bryan Heitkotter finished fifth and seventh in the opening race on Saturday and improved further on Sunday to cross the line in second and fifth respectively on a damp track.

However, Davison was given a post race penalty for avoidable contact, which pushed him back to 11th and elevated Heitkotter to fourth.

The Always Evolving / AIM Autosport squad have appealed the decision by race officials.

“It was a fantastic race for us. I got a great start and moved up three spots on the opening lap in the variable conditions,” said Davison prior to being given the bad news about the penalty. “It was certainly a little tricky out, but I trusted the GT-R and moved up to second. We had the best performance all weekend and stayed within second or two of the lead. We really maximized the package and now I’m looking forward to Lime Rock next weekend.”

The team will now make the 457-mile journey back across the border into the United States for next weekend’s round at Lime Rock Park, which will be held on Saturday, May 28.
