ŠKODA continues to expand its long-standing commitment to international ice hockey. The Czech manufacturer is an official sponsor of the newly founded Champions Hockey League (CHL). The partnership with Europe’s new hockey Champions League includes the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons. ŠKODA has supported the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship as official main sponsor since 1992, and is also a partner to some of the best national hockey teams in the world.

The newly founded Champions Hockey League was launched at the start of the 2014/2015 season. 44 top European teams from 12 countries will be taking part in the competition between August and February, with the finals being held on 3 February 2015. Those involved in the CHL include 26 leading European clubs, six European leagues (Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland) and the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF.

“We are very pleased to be supporting the new European Champions Hockey League as the official sponsor,” says ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing Werner Eichhorn. “For more than 20 years, ŠKODA has been firmly established in the international hockey world as the official main sponsor of the Hockey World Championships and as a partner to outstanding national teams. In connection with these activities, the most important future European ice hockey event is a great platform to consistently show our presence throughout the year and present the brand internationally in an emotional and exciting environment.”

Over the next two years, ŠKODA will be pulling out all the stops for their CHL sponsorship. This will include positioning the attention-grabbing ŠKODA logo around the rink. The logo will be featured prominently on the ice from the second round onwards.
Additionally, the manufacturer will be showcasing vehicles at the semi-finals and final. ŠKODA will be an ever-present symbol in all CHL communications media including all online activities.

By continuing to support the Champions Hockey League, the Czech carmaker expands this long-standing commitment to international ice hockey that spans over two decades. ŠKODA has been the official main sponsor of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships since 1992, making this the longest main sponsorship in the history of sports world championships. This is a long-term sponsorship deal and was renewed three years ago until 2017.

ŠKODA has been a keen supporter of ice hockey since the beginning of their strategic ice hockey commitment 22 years ago. This includes supporting national hockey associations and leagues. During the last IIHF World Championship in Belarus, the ŠKODA logo shone on the jerseys and helmets of four teams (Czech Republic, Slovakia, USA and Norway).
