This will be the 18th time that ŠKODA is the exclusive automotive partner for the international opera festival Smetana’s Litomyšl. The Czech Republic’s largest open-air classical music festival takes place this year, for the 55th time, from the 13th to the 30th June at the birthplace of the composer Bedřich Smetana. The heart of the action is at Litomyšl Castle, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

In addition to supporting major international performances in sport, working on outstanding events in the Czech Republic is one of the cornerstones of the ŠKODA sponsorship strategy. “The Smetana’s Litomyšl Festival has been one of the top events in Czech music culture for years,” explains Petr Pečenka, ŠKODA AUTO Manager, Czech Republic. He continues “We are pleased to be able to contribute to the success of this renowned festival for the 18th time”.

One focus of the ŠKODA sponsorship is to provide five silver-coloured ŠKODAs, including four Superbs and an Octavia. The small fleet will serve as a shuttle for artists and event organizers. During the festival, the Czech carmaker shall also be presenting to visitors their current model range, including the new Rapid models, as well as the Octavia and the all new Superb. In 2013 the manufacturer is to launch a total of eight new or completely revised models on the market – more than ever before in ŠKODA’s corporate history.

Visitors can also look forward to a competition with some fantastic prizes. The competition will have questions focused on the topics of music and cars. Prizes include trips around the ŠKODA production plant in Mladá Boleslav and tours through the new ŠKODA Museum.

For many years ŠKODA has supported central cultural projects in their home market. This includes the partnership with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the promotion of the Czech National Theatre and supporting the International Children’s and Youth Film Festival in Zlín.
