Successful season-opener for Jesse Krohn and Martin Tomczyk in the BMW M6 GT3.

Oschersleben (DE), 16th April 2016. BMW Motorsport Junior Jesse Krohn
(DE) and BMW DTM driver Martin Tomczyk (DE) scored their first points
at the ADAC GT Masters season-opener in Oschersleben (DE). The
60-minute race on Saturday saw them finish fifth in the BMW M6 GT3 run
by Schubert Motorsport. That result earned them ten points in the standings.

Krohn had qualified ninth in the morning and handed the car over to
Tomczyk in P11 after a faultless drive in the first part of the race.
Thanks to an excellent pit stop by the Schubert crew Tomczyk returned
to the track in P6. He managed to hold this position and finished
fifth due to a drive-trough penalty given to one of the drivers ahead
of him. Victory in the first race of the weekend went to Sebastian
Asch and Luca Ludwig (both DE, Mercedes).

Race 2 starts at 1.15 p.m. on Sunday. Then Tomczyk will do qualifying
and the opening stint of the race.

Jesse Krohn: “In the end the race worked well
for us. I think P5 was the best result we could achieve today. I had a
solid start and was able to follow the cars ahead of me. A very good
pit stop earned us a lot of positions. I’m happy with the good result.
The car was great.”

Martin Tomczyk: “P5 is a good start for the BMW
M6 GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters. Jesse did a good job in the first part
of the race, and showed that he can keep up with the best drivers in
the field. Let’s praise Team Schubert for an amazing pit stop.
Unfortunately I was only able to hold my position during my stint. I
couldn’t keep up with the pace of the front-runners. We are going to
work hard to catch up with them in tomorrow’s race and over the course
of the season. One thing is always clear at BMW: We want to be on the podium.”
