Munich. Kenny Foray (FRA) is the third champion of the 2017
season in the BMW Motorrad Motorsport community. The Tecmas Racing
Team rider celebrated an early title win in the French Superbike
Championship (FSBK) at the penultimate round at Carole (FRA). In the
International German Championship (IDM), Markus Reiterberger (GER)
had already claimed the title in August – and continued the season
with another double win at Oschersleben (GER). Reiterberger and his
Van Zon-Remeha-BMW team-mates claimed a top-three lockout and a 1-2
result in the two races. The BMW S 1000 RR riders also dominated the
Carole races in the French European Bikes Championship (FR EU).
Florian Brunet-Lugardon (FRA) was victorious on both occasions and
after the penultimate round there is certainty that the champion in
this series will be a BMW racer, either Florian or his brother Cyril
Brunet-Lugardon (FRA).
French Superbike Championship at Carole, France.
Kenny Foray (FRA) secured an early title win in the French Superbike
Championship (FSBK) with one victory and one third place on the
podium. The Tecmas Racing Team rider was crowned champion at the
penultimate round of the season held at Carole near Paris (FRA) at the
weekend. Foray started Sunday’s races from pole position and second
place on the grid on his BMW S 1000 RR. By winning the first race, he
took a big step towards the champion’s crown. In race two, third place
was enough for him to secure the title. In the championship standings,
Foray now leads with an advantage of 74 points and cannot be beaten at
the season finale in Albi (FRA). His team-mate Maxime Bonnot (FRA)
finished the races in ninth and eighth places overall, and third place
in the Superbike Challenger class (SBK Ch) on both occasions.
Kenny Foray: “I am really proud and happy for me, the
entire team and everybody who contributed to this title. The weekend
at Carole was good, but not easy. In race one, I pushed over the
entire distance and I took the win but it was not enough to take the
title – one point was missing. For the second race, my approach was
totally different. I just wanted to be champion so I rode without
taking risks, finished third and took the title in front of all my
family, team and friends. It was something very special to win the
title at Carole because it was the circuit where I began to race
motorcycles. Thank you to my Tecmas Racing Team, thank you to BMW and
thank you to all partners for the great work this season.”
International German Championship at Oschersleben, Germany.
Two weeks after Markus Reiterberger’s (GER) early title win, the 2017
season of the International German Championship (IDM) continued with
the penultimate round at Oschersleben (GER). The fact that he is
already champion did not tempt “Reiti” into slowing down. He took
another commanding double victory on his Van Zon-Remeha BMW S 1000 RR,
crossing the line with an advantage of ten seconds both times.
In both races, Reiterberger stepped onto the podium with his
team-mates. In the first race, the Van Zon-Remeha-BMW Superbike Team
took all three steps of the rostrum. Jan Bühn (GER) was second behind
Reiterberger, with Danny de Boer (NED) third. De Boer was then second
in race two, securing a 1-2 result for the team and for the RR. Bühn
was fourth that time.
Markus Reiterberger: “I had a good start in the first
race on Saturday, was able to put the 18 laps together pretty easily
and took the win with an advantage of ten seconds. It was fantastic to
secure all three podium positions with the team. We could not quite
repeat that in the second race on Sunday, but to take first and second
position is a great result for the team too. As usual, I am more than
happy with the weekend. The team did a mega job once again; everything
from tyres to data worked perfectly. Now I am looking forward to the
final round at Hockenheim where I hope to wrap up the season with
another double win.”
Jan Bühn: “Finishing the races in P2 and P4 – I am
happy. I think it was one of my best weekends so far. We had already
started the weekend well and did a good job. Especially the first race
was just perfect with the triple on the podium with Markus, me and
Danny. Race two went pretty well coming from third place on the grid
but over the last five laps, my rear tyre started to lose grip and I
could not hold off Florian Alt any longer. Now I am looking forward to
my home round, the season finale in four weeks at Hockenheim.”
French European Bikes Championship at Carole, France.
The French European Bikes Championship (FR EU) also held its
penultimate round of the 2017 season at Carole (FRA). Florian
Brunet-Lugardon (FRA / Gers Moto Vitesse Ordannaise) once again was
the man of the weekend, winning both races on his BMW S 1000 RR. He
now has a tally of eight wins this season despite missing the second
round due to injury. Overall, the BMW racers again dominated the action.
In Saturday’s first race, the RR riders secured a top-five lockout.
Hernani Teixeira (FRA / Team ERT Motorshow) was second behind
Brunet-Lugardon and Julien Brun (FRA / JB Racing Team) joined them on
the podium in third. Cyril Brunet-Lugardon (FRA / Gers Moto Vitesse
Ordannaise) followed in fourth and Manu Dagault (FRA / DAGYmoto 72)
completed the top five. In race two, held on Sunday, the RR riders
again claimed all spots on the rostrum. Brun was second behind winner
Florian Brunet-Lugardon with Dagault in third.
The title is not decided yet in the FR EU, but after the penultimate
round it is already clear that the champion will be a BMW rider – and
that it will be one of the two Brunet-Lugardon brothers. Florian
currently leads the championship with an advantage of eight points
over Cyril. Brun, who is third of the rider’s standings, is already
more than 60 points behind and cannot threaten the brothers in their
fight for the title.
Florian Brunet-Lugardon: “It will be a great finale
in Albi with Cyril and me being the two who fight for the title. With
only eight points between us it will be two exciting races. We are
both really looking forward to it.”
